From the clips that we have gathered for our short film, we have assessed what we could to do make our short film effective and engaging to our audiences.
Our short movie is apart of the Horror/Thriller genre, so we will follow themes of those types of movies to make the short film: ominous, scary and threatening.
To start, after creating our rushes log we will need to get the raw footage we put onto rushes log and start to cut it down, crop the scenes so we can have a closer look at the scenes instead of it being hard to see. After we cut it down, we would need to follow the story board and assemble the footage together to form a structured story.
After we had the general footage in order, we can begin editing our short movie. We are going to: add sound effects such screaming where we will increase the volume so it's loud and catches the viewers attentions, joining call sound effects and general Zoom sound effects as our short film is going to be centred around a zoom call, etc. We are also going to have slow, scary and build-up music for certain scenes where a character is going to die and to create a tense and unsettling atmosphere throughout the short film/
The mise-en-scene of the room was also extremely dark and barely had any surrounding so you cannot see what is going on in the background. This dennotes suspense and tension for the audience as they await to what is going to happen to the characters next.
To begin our short film, we will have an intro sequence with text setting the scene such as: "The 30th Day of the National Lockdown" to set the scene and let the viewers know what they should expect from the short film. The short film is going to end with credits stating who starred in the short film and credits to where sound was gathered from. This also connotes a sense of dread for the viewers as it symbolises something bad is going to happen.
Various sound effects such as: cinematic booms to catch the viewers attention, phone alert sound effects (where the main characters get an alert of their phones). lights flickering are going to be used when necessary throughout the short film whilst following the plan with our script and storyboard.
For example, on clips like the one below we will add a 'vignette' effect and change the lightning so that the scene looks more darker, threatening and scary for the viewers. We would like the audience to feel uneased whilst watching the short film and have a fear of the unknown as tension is built throughout the short film, so we will try to add effects to make the short film look darker to connote impending death and suspense.
