Quoted from the BBFC guidelines:
Threat and Horror:
"There may be moderate physical and psychological threat and horror sequences. Although some scenes may be disturbing, the overall tone should not be. Horror sequences should not be frequent or sustained."
We plan to have some scary scenes in our short film where we want to startle the viewer and catch them by surprise. During the short film, suspense is going to be built to make the viewer feel uneasy, however the horror sequences are not excessive and just only may seem as creepy to the viewers. As we don't have the equipment, props or costumes to dwell on these scary scenes (such as a killer attempting to murder one of the characters), a lot of the scenes will have to be implied to have happened.
Violence:
"There may be moderate violence but it should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context.
In our short film, we plan to have people killed off one by one, however we do not plan to dwell upon it. Deaths are going to occur off screen and before viewers can see what goes on the screen cuts to black. However, loud sound effects will be put in place and before it cuts to black the viewers can see what is going to possibly happen to the character before they ultimately meet their demise.
Legal Issues when creating our short film:
One Issue of Intellectual Property that will affect the short film's production
We will not have the time to create our own music and soundtrack for our short movie, so we will have to result to using music from Youtube. However, if we use music that is copyrighted and not copyright-free and we upload it publicly onto Youtube, we could get a strike and possibly sued as we are using this music without permission.
Ethical Issues when creating our short film:
An ethical issue that could affect the production of our short film is: setting unrealistic and conflicting goals. Setting unrealistic objectives like trying to get the short film finished in a short amount of time or planning to edit stuff in that we do not have the skills to do. Unrealistic goals can put pressure on all of us working and the production of our short film could fall apart due the pressure put on everyone and would end up breaching ethical or legal guidelines to obtain these goals.
