A Mind Of His Own	Sound Effects- Music is used to build up suspense and tension in scenes to draw the viewers on the edge of their seats as they eagerly await what happens next. Characters- 1-5 main characters to focus on. The film gives a brief idea (the main character’s parents are dead) of what is happening in the film before it progresses any further so viewers get a good idea of what is happening. Mise-En-Scene- Props such as: Knives, fake blood and masks were used to convey the genre of the short movie. A lot of the scenes were also shot in dark isolated areas which would make the viewer feel creeped out and fearful of what is out there and what is going to happen to the un-expecting characters.	A Mind Of His Own could use more visual effects to make the atmosphere more unsettling and unpleasant and more fearful is what is out in the unknown; visual effects would also make the video more appealing to look at. A Mind Of His Own could try and use more shot types to make it seem less repetitive.
Blurred	Music- Slow, melancholy music is used to create a sense of sadness in the viewer as they feel pity for what the main character is going through. The viewers feel pity as they learn about his hardships.  Voice-Over/Narrator dialogue- The narrator is the main character dubbing over and talking about his life. We’re only just finding out about this character and his life before but only what has occurred now.  Visual Effects- Apt visual effects were used in the correct moments to put emphasis on the main character’s emotions. Such as the blurs around the main character’s close-up when he feels sadness ad frustration.	A lot of scenes in Blurred were dragged out for too long before moving on with the next one. The radius blur around the main character got repetitive at times and other similar visual effects.
life of kurt	Duration- The short film is 4 minutes and 30 seconds long. To be considered a short film, it must be under 30 minutes but however short films usually last a duration of 5-10 minutes. Budget- life of kurt has a small budget. There are not many characters, not a lot of props and visual effects and is set in one prime location and another close one. Twist- As hinted at in the beginning in the short movie, but unknown to the viewers the main character is superhuman. This would catch the attention of the viewers as was unexpected.	Life of Kurt does not really give any insight of what the genre of the short film is. life of kurt could use some more props, lighting effects, etc. to try and reflect what the genre is.  Life of Kurt could try and shoot in a range of other different locations; as they are all stuck in one place, it gets repetitive and boring to watch.
Hallucinations Dilly Edit	Todorov Structure- Hallucinations follows a Todorov structure. The main character is getting ready for a party and heads out only to be kidnapped breaking her normal. She is given a pill that has unknown effects that will change her life forever making it her new normal.  Relatable main character- The main character is an everyday teenager just living her life that the viewers can see themselves in.	Like life of kurt, the story of Hallucinations is confusing and hard to follow wheras short stories usually have an easy story to follow. Hallucinations could have more props and mise en scene like life of kurt to signify the genre.
What can you emulate from these in your work?
In my short film, gaining inspiration from the ones that I have viewed I will attempt to use: a range of different conventions, shot types, music, etc. following a traditional structure of what a short film is supposed to look like to appeal and captivate viewers. My short film will convey the genre I had planned it out to be and will have a short but simple storyline that the viewers can easily understand and enjoy.
